War and Horses | Illustrated Novel | Break Kickstarter

Created by Oneshi Press

A weird western illustrated novel set in the Children of Gaia fantasy universe. Deep in the dustbowl of the newly formed Republic of Draven, the old aristocracy coexists with a new democratic government in an uneasy peace that’s often broken by conflict. Famine and drought wrack the once-fertile region—and violence is a spark to dry grass. Into the midst of the chaos walks a shadowy figure: the Triggerman. The only thing certain about him is that he leaves a trail of chaos in his wake. Following that trail is writer Landon Ford, a journalist documenting the Triggerman’s exploits and digging for the truth of his identity. "War & Horses" is Ford’s work: a series of dime-store books popular in both Terra and the new world of Rendaraia...and whispered by some to be ridiculous fiction. But the Triggerman is very real—and his true purpose may become the story of Ford’s life. "War & Horses" is the second full-length book in the Children of Gaia series, following "The Great Nations of Rendaraia" and two short comics: "Refuge" and "Carrying Iron."

An interview with "War & Horses" author, Peter Lampasona!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Sep 09, 2019 at 12:35:09 PM

We interviewed Peter Lampasona, the author of "War & Horses," the brains behind its central character, The Triggerman, and a collaborator on the Children of Gaia fantasy universe! The Oneshi Press crew sat down with Peter to talk about his linguistic cerations, fight choreography, and why he’s a Hermione.

Here's a nibble:

"What I came up with was the personality for The Triggerman—a man who does a job of killing because it has to be done and he is just a natural at it. The people he kills are neither good nor bad, but they are in the way. Sprinkle in a little of the smarm and edge from the Timothy Dalton version of James Bond (the BEST Bond. F**king fight me) and a penchant for soliloquizing, and here we are."

An interview with "War & Horses" author, Chris Covelli!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Sep 09, 2019 at 12:35:06 PM

With just four days and 32% to go till our deadline, it's time to talk to another creator behind War & Horses: co-illustrator, and Children of Gaia co-creator, Chris Covelli!

Oneshi Press spoke with Children of Gaia co-creator and War & Horses co-illustrator, Chris Covelli, about his inspirations, the humble origins of this vast fantasy universe, and the importance of imagination.

Here's a nibble:

"Children of Gaia grew and matured as we did. The more we experienced, the more we learned about the real world and how complicated everything is, the more of it we put into the story. The uncertainty of life, learning from failure, accepting hard truths and finding balance in chaos are all themes that have naturally emerged in the narrative as Jayel and I got older and wiser. We found ourselves wanting to know everything about this world we were building, its history, its nature, even its very creation were questions we didn't realize we were asking until we were already answering them for ourselves."
