War and Horses | Illustrated Novel | Break Kickstarter

Created by Oneshi Press

A weird western illustrated novel set in the Children of Gaia fantasy universe. Deep in the dustbowl of the newly formed Republic of Draven, the old aristocracy coexists with a new democratic government in an uneasy peace that’s often broken by conflict. Famine and drought wrack the once-fertile region—and violence is a spark to dry grass. Into the midst of the chaos walks a shadowy figure: the Triggerman. The only thing certain about him is that he leaves a trail of chaos in his wake. Following that trail is writer Landon Ford, a journalist documenting the Triggerman’s exploits and digging for the truth of his identity. "War & Horses" is Ford’s work: a series of dime-store books popular in both Terra and the new world of Rendaraia...and whispered by some to be ridiculous fiction. But the Triggerman is very real—and his true purpose may become the story of Ford’s life. "War & Horses" is the second full-length book in the Children of Gaia series, following "The Great Nations of Rendaraia" and two short comics: "Refuge" and "Carrying Iron."

Let's Break Some Rules Together! New Campaign Launching Next Week!

Panel from "Mr. Guy, Arc 3: A Damned Drink," illustrated by Walter Ostlie.

Howdy, War & Horses backers,

If you've read War & Horses, you've probably figured out that Oneshi Press likes to bend rules and push boundaries. We smoosh genres, warp expectations, and embrace weirdness. And, if you like that about us, you might just be excited about our next crowdfunding campaign.

In just one week, on July 1, we'll launch a Kickstarter for two collections of comics! That's right—we're going big or going home. Here's what's gonna happen:

  • Mr. Guy: Zombie Hunter, Act 1 — A fabulous zombie-apocalypse caper of ridiculously epic proportions. Our reluctant hero, Mr. Guy—a half-goblin ne’er do well with a wisecrack for every occasion—is infected with the ZMB virus. Crap. Then he discovers that his bite wound is haunted with a helpful ghost named Spooky…who comes with a helping of superhuman strength! Using his newfound, neato powers, Mr. Guy is determined to cure himself…which means he’ll probably have to save the world along the way. How tedious. Mr. Guy  is written by Oneshi Press co-founder Jayel Draco and illustrated by four different artists. Jayel Draco, Walter Ostlie, Diana Camero, and Jacey Chase each illustrate an 8-page story arc of their own. You can learn more and get a peek at the art right here!
  • The Origins Anthology — Our tenth anthology combines the work of overtwo dozen creators from around the world, all telling tales of origins. When did the otherworldly invasion force start its reaving? Where does safety come from for a trans cowboy in the Wild West? How did LGBTQIA+ longing turn into a love affair with oneself? Will a queer, indigenous hero steeped in tragedy be able to tame her new superpowers? What does a nonbinary clown have to do with the origin of the stars? And where did that giant come from? All those questions and more seek answers in the Origins Anthology. Take a sneak peek inside over here.

Can we fund two books with one Kickstarter? We sure hope so! Your support could make a world of difference. Follow the pre-launch page now so you'll be notified when the campaign goes live…and get in on our amazing 1st-day-only rewards tier! Let's break some rules together!

All backers at every tier will receive a digital copy of Tracy Queen V2: Dangerous Experiments, which features 36 pages of original art from Jayel Draco, along with cover art from Tangmo Cecchini (shown above). The graphic novel also includes guest art from Shaydens Doodle, Jason Johnson, Dylan Jay Fox, and Sophia Murphy!

Other rewards include:

  • Stickers
  • Postcards
  • The first volume of the series—Tracy Queen, Volume 1—in print and digital
  • PACK issues 1 and 2 in print and digital
  • Oneshi Press comics anthologies 1 - 9 in print and digital
  • Art prints created by Jayel Draco
  • Hand-drawn, one-of-a-kind art pieces by Pink Pitcher and Jayel Draco
  • Canvas tote bags

Our hope? That we can get this graphic novel into readers' hands within a few weeks' time after the Kickstarter ends this Friday at 5:00 p.m. MDT. After all, who doesn't want more comics to read during quarantine?

This is a great opportunity for fans of other Oneshi Press projects to get lots of high-quality entertainment for low prices. It's also a chance to support indie creators who work very hard and are being heavily impacted by quarantine measures. If successful, this Kickstarter will help Oneshi Press continue to support indie creators around the world!

Time is running out to stock up on art, comics, and more! Pledge now before the campaign ends on Friday!

If You Enjoyed "War & Horses," Check out "Tracy Queen"!

Two of the minds behind the weird western wildness of War & Horses are back on Kickstarter with a new graphic novel that will blow your mind!

Lynsey G and Jayel Draco have been working together on Tracy Queen, a graphic novel about a warrior-turned-porn-star's journey toward empowerment, for nearly a decade. Last year, they released Volume 1 of the eight-part epic, and now it's time to fund printing and distribution of Tracy Queen V2: Dangerous Experiments!

About Tracy Queen

Everyone's favorite warrior-turned-camgirl, Tracy Queen, is back in this second volume of her epic adventures! Backers will journey back into the biggest, baddest, beautiful-est, most sex-positive-est, wildest, and hands-down (-your-pants!) coolest graphic novel of its kind.

This epic journey toward self-empowerment began last year with Tracy Queen, Volume 1, when Tracy—a brilliant but sheltered Brooklynite with a penchant for hookah and a talent for swordplay—broke free of her grandfather's crime syndicate to pursue a life of pleasure as an adult webcam model. But her journey to self-discovery won't come easily...

About Dangerous Experiments

When we meet back up with Tracy in Dangerous Experiments, she’s an established webcammer making a good living doing solo shows for her growing fan base. But she’s bored. Her grandfather—head of the crime syndicate she used to work for—is watching her every move. She no longer has an excuse to use her sword. She’s totally sick of her raccoon roommate and his coke habit. She needs more...but she’s not sure what that means.

Then she discovers some of her grandfather’s men sneaking into the warehouse they used to traffic drugs and weapons. Except this time, they’re moving very different “merchandise.” Tracy’s boredom turns to vengeance in the blink of an eye, and soon she’s dispatched the henchmen and freed four young women from a terrible fate.

Now, Tracy sees her mission clearly: To challenge harmful tropes about female sexuality by creating consensual porn that highlights female agency. She’s going to take back the power! But Tracy must first help the women she’s rescued get home, transform her warehouse into a film studio, and learn how to vet and shoot with on-screen partners. To do all that, she has to wade through her grandfather’s surveillance and the meddling of Dickie Doublefinger, the “King of Porn” who’s determined to get Tracy to work for him, no matter what...

Find out how she triumphs, even as she learns more about her BFF, Nikola the talking raccoon, and makes powerful and unexpected new enemies, in V2: Dangerous Experiments!

What's In It For Backers?

Starting at pledge levels as low as $5, every backer will receive a copy of Dangerous Experiments in print and/or digital format! Featuring first-day-only early-bird specials, gorgeous art prints, Tracy Queen paper dolls, PDF downloads galore, guest art, and so much more, this Kickstarter campaign will be as wild a ride as Tracy's webcam shows! Check it out now!
